Why exchange links? One idea behind exchanging links is
that the more you have on your site the better your chance
of receiving a higher search engine rank. But that's not
the only reason. With more links on the web pointing
to your site, the better your chance of getting more visitors.
And the more visitors you have coming to your site the
better your chance of converting them into an income.

Okay, with that understood, the question now is where
should you link to and where should you link from? Obviously
you don't want to link to a site with zero traffic. That means
that if that site gets zero visitors, you get zero traffic coming
in from that link. And zero traffic means zero income.

So, you want links from sites with traffic. Preferably links
from sites that have similar targeted traffic. That means
that if the traffic coming to your site is already focused on
the subject of your site, you have a better chance of making
money through your website.

Now, you might be thinking all that sounds well and good
for the big guys. But what about the little guys, the ones
that are just starting out?

Okay, if you're just getting started. Your best bet is to ex-
change links with anyone that will trade with you. You need
to begin with some traffic. Then later on you can find better
and better sites to exchange links.

That advice works well for me, too. Since my sites at

been published.

I was sniffing through some articles. No. I was actually
sniffing for an idea on how to make money of online. That's
what was on my mind. Anyway, on my website at

by Jack C. The title of the article is "How Affiliate Programs
Work". I would give you the highlights of that article, but
I figure it might be better if you go read it for yourself.

How to Drive Free Traffc to Your Web Site

If your web site hasn't started producing money for you,
yet, you can try some of the free methods of generating
traffic listed below:

Write articles and submit them to article directories. Most of them provide you with a form field. You can not only use it for your copyright notice but to offer a free ebook, a report or even an attention getting headline to attract readers to click your link and visit your web site.
Create and distribute a free report on a specific subject. In that report, you can include a link to your site or to a squeeze page to capture readers name and email address. A link to a squeeze page automatically builds your list of readers whom you can contact later with affiliate programs of the related subject.
Post regularly on forums related to your site. Doing that might be the easiest and fastest way to get free traffic to your site. You can use forums to make interesting posts and include a signature file that allows readers to click through to your site. You can always post questions if you're not an expert. That way your site gets noticed and you get some incoming links.
Find link partners and exchange links. Not only will that get you direct click through traffic from other sites but that will also get you search engine traffic once those sites are indexed.

Using one or all of those methods will drive traffic to your site. Try them and see.

Submitting Your Site to Google Is Unnecessary

While sniffing through Google's AdSense Guidelines
I was a bit surprised to discover it's not even necessary
to submit your sit to Google. That's because they have
a fully automated search engine that uses software
known as "spiders to crawl the web. And on a regular
basis, they find sites and automatically index them.

Of course, some sites are not found and listed that way.

According to Google, even though the spiders crawl
billions of web pages, it's possible for your site to be
among the few that are missed. When that happens,
it's often for one or more of the following reasons:

Your site wasn't connected through multiple links to other sites.
Your site was launched after the spiders recently crawled.
You designed your site in such a way that you made it difficult for the spiders to crawl the content.
Your site was temporarily unavailable when the spiders tried to crawl it or they received an error message.

Does any of that mean you site will never be indexed by Google?

No, of course not. It simply means that you'll have to make some necessary corrections to your site. Then wait for the spiders to attempt to crawl your site again.

Or you can manually submit to Google. They've provided a means for you to do that, also.
